In this centenary year of the end of the First World War, we are reminded how catastrophic warfare can be. That horrific war resulted in the deaths of over 16 million people. With the nuclear capabilities of today, if global warfare were to occur for a third time, even this enormous death toll would be rapidly exceeded.
