Demand an inquiry into the Trident missile crisis
Press reports over the weekend revealed that a test-firing of a Trident missile in June 2016 suffered from a "serious malfunction" which led to the missile going off course, heading to the United States, rather than the intended target off the west coast of Africa.
This is an incredibly serious incident, not least because it happened just weeks before the parliamentary vote on Trident replacement. Downing Street placed a news blackout on the story to ensure that no awkward questions would be raised during the debate, which resulted in MPs voting to go ahead with the £205bn project to replace the current Trident system.
CND is calling for an inquiry into the incident and the subsequent cover up. Please write to your MP and ask them to support the call.
