Ask your MP to sign EDM 1667: Steps towards disarmament
The government’s Integrated Review of Security, Defence, Development and Foreign Policy announced an increase in the UK's nuclear arsenal of at least 40%, rising to 260 warheads. The Review also outlined a change in nuclear posture, reserving the right of the UK to use nuclear weapons in response to non-nuclear threats.
This disastrous policy change goes against decades of gradual reductions in nuclear weapons and contravenes our legal obligations under the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, ratified by the UK in 1970.
Members of Parliament have tabled Early Day Motion 1667 calling on the government to abandon these unacceptable changes and instead to take steps towards disarmament.
Please email your MP and ask them to add their name in support.
