Email your MP to sign EDM 123: Mutual Defence Agreement

The UK and USA's Mutual Defence Agreement (MDA), established in secret in 1958, facilitates the exchange of nuclear technology information and collaboration on nuclear weapons programmes between the two states.

The Treaty is renewed every ten years. Just before the summer recess, the government presented this Treaty to the House of Commons, with proposed amendments that will make the Treaty permanent, thereby removing the regular opportunity to amend or withdraw from the Treaty.

We have very limited time to ensure meaningful Parliamentary oversight of, or opposition to, this amendment, so we are urging MPs to sign this Early Day Motion and support a debate on this issue.
